It's not nice when family members make negative comments about your weight. I have witnessed that many times and what I do is establish the boundaries and make them aware of what can and cannot be said.
Report the persons who keep overstepping their boundaries to the appropriate family member. You do not have to take disrespect from anyone, even from your family. Prioritize your mental health over other people irrespective of who they are.
How Do You Handle Family Comments About Your Weight?
Re: How Do You Handle Family Comments About Your Weight?
Family negative talk on my body size hurt me at one time, but not anymore. I let them know that it's not right to mock people because of their size. Now, I am concentrating more on becoming healthy in my own way.

I have learnt to not take such comment seriously. I don't let it get to me emotionally. Sometimes, I just change the subject or tell them that I am not interested.

It seems like it would usually be a sign they don't like you, but they're too cowardly to tell you. I really despise this passive aggression.

I would respond depending on how they communicated it. If they spoke with concern then I would take it in a good and loving concern type of way either I agree or respectfully say my peace about their comment.

Re: How Do You Handle Family Comments About Your Weight?
When family members used to say things about me losing weight, I would let it bother me and would do my best to try and eat differently to try and lose the weight fast, which never did me any favours.
I now don't let any comments bother me, and I stick to a diet that I know works and is better for my health.

I just laugh and say "I'm comfortable being fat." then I try to change the subject. If they want to keep going on about my weight, I'll just walk away. To be honest though, no one has really done this much except for my grandmother who I haven't seen since 2010.

Honestly, family or not, I set boundaries. Mental health first—no one gets a free pass.

Usually, this stuff is projection. It's easy to point out their so-called faults also, but they can't take what they dish out, lol.
